Having traveled, lived-in, and explored many other natural desert regions, from California to Texas to the Sierra Tarahumara canyons of Northern Mexico, Bert (short for Bertha) finds in Southern Arizona’s lush Sonoran desert a generous muse and constant inspiration for her popular paintings.
Her impressions of flowering cacti, tall majestic saguaros, silky blue agaves - are beautifully re-created with a bright, vibrant color palette and in striking detail.
A native of Los Angeles, Bert now lives with her husband and their two dogs in Tucson AZ, where they spend most of their time outdoors. Which, if you’ve lived in Tucson (even for a short while), you would understand why.

What started off as a way to pass some much needed downtime, quickly became not only a passion, but a small business for craftsman, Joel Herren.
Lone Star, Ink. took a life of its own as people discovered Joel's beautifully hand-crafted custom pens. Orders and special requests rolled in and the rest is history!
Using all kinds of raw materials including acrylics, metals, various natural woods and even deer antlers (to name a few,) Joel creates writing instruments as unique as each customer's signature.
When he's not making these commemorative masterpieces, you can find Joel cruising the backroads of the beautiful Southwest on a Harley-Davidson Road Glide.
